She/They (b.1991, Montpellier, France) is a visual artist currently living in Helsinki, Finland.
Océane Bruel’s practice unfolds between sculpture and installation. Through a sensitive, material, and spatial approach, she explores the ecology of everyday affects, advocating for a politics of attention. Her work engages with questions of affect, embodiment, Crip theory, care, loss, subsistence, memory, and transformation. She is particularly interested in how the immaterial dimensions of existence—emotions, sensations, lived experience—intertwine with the material world and inhabit bodies, objects, and spaces. Rooted in the continuity of ordinary situations, her practice emerges through an experimental and intuitive relationship with the studio. The appropriation of materials and objects becomes a score of gestures and poetic manipulations. Nourished by personal experiences and collective care practices, she creates sculptures and installations that hold the fragile, invisible, silent yet persistent forces of the everyday. Alongside her individual work, she also collaborates as a duo with visual artist dylan ray arnold (Touristes Tristes) since 2016

La pratique d’Océane Bruel se déploie entre sculpture et installation. À travers une approche sensible, matérielle et spatiale, elle explore l’écologie des affects liés à la vie quotidienne, plaidant pour une politique de l’attention. Son travail engage des questions d’affect, de corporéité, de théorie Crip, de soin, de perte, de subsistance, de mémoire et de transformation. Elle s’intéresse particulièrement aux manières dont les dimensions immatérielles de l’existence – émotions, sensations, vécus – s’entrelacent avec le monde matériel, habitent les corps, les objets et les espaces. Sa pratique s’ancre dans la continuité de situations ordinaires et se construit dans un rapport expérimental et intuitif à l’atelier. L’appropriation de matériaux et d’objets y devient une partition de gestes, de manipulations poétiques. Nourrie par ses expériences personnelles et des pratiques collectives de soin, Océane crée des sculptures et installations où se condensent les forces fragiles, invisibles, silencieuses mais persistantes du quotidien. En parallèle de sa démarche individuelle, elle développe également un travail en duo avec l’artiste plasticien dylan ray arnold (Touristes Tristes) depuis 2016
